The Big C

A member of my family has just been diagnosed with Lung Cancer. She who doesn't smoke. She who has never harmed even a fly. Almost all my relatives in my mother's side have all succumbed to the Big C. My grandfather died of complications of tuberculosis and lung cancer, my grandmother died of a broken heart, my uncle died of colon cancer, another aunt died of bone and lung cancer and a cousin died of leukemia. My brother had early signs of nodes on his neck but the doctors got to it in time. He is now cancer-free and hopping around.

So you see ... it is what everyone in our family dies of. The dreaded family killer.

If I had a choice, I would not want to die of cancer. It is not a silent killer. The bacteria kills you slowly. Little by little. A small part of you dies every single minute of every single day. You see your loved ones getting weaker and weaker by the minute. Their youthful glow slowly being eaten up by this dastardly disease.

I hate cancer. I hate what it does to my family. Please Allah take it far far away from us. Please.
