PIKIT RELIEF MISSION
August 19, 2008
Please donate anything of substance for our fellow Christian and Moro brothers and sisters in evacuation centers. We are zeroing in on the hardly reached internal areas of Silik, Paidu Pulangi, Punol and Manaulanan (an hour of rough road from the Pikit Poblacion).
Get that old tattered shirt out of your closet and give it to me. I'll make sure it gets to someone who will cherish it.
Old clothes, canned goods, soap, rice, old tarpaulines for their makeshift houses or anything you can share.
You don't need to buy, just look inside that closet/kitchen of yours . C'mon friends I know you have a lot. Let's share what we have with the less fortunate brothers affected by this recent skirmishes. Please SMS or call me (0918.5582188) if you need me to pick up stuff you have already collected.
Salaam.

Hi,
I just came across your blogspot. I'm also from Mindanao and right now based in Europe. I would like to help and try my best to bring more people to reach out to our long-neglected folks in the rural areas in Mindanao. The war is back again and the usual victims are the small folks whose main daily concern is to survive hunger and poverty.
I would like to use your photos and publish them in a Filipino newspaper based in Italy, to make our kababayans here aware of the conditions of the refugees and war victims.
Here in Europe, tons of aid were sent to Georgia where two provinces declared to secede and were supported by Russia with military attacks. Plans of reconstruction are now being made after the bombings ended.
But what about Mindanao? The only people who will really care to help are those from this great island.
Do you have long term projects for these refugees. How can Filipinos abroad, specially those from Mindanao, help?
Thank you.

Please do email or message me here you e-mail address so we can communicate better.
For now we do what we can to alleviate the plight of the dipslaced. There are long term plans for them and some donor agencies and line agencies orient them on livelihood projects for their communities. Other NGO's give them pysho social handholding and meet with them every now and then to assess their situation and help them get back on their feet. But efforts are not collective. Sa tagalog pa "kanya-kanya"...
Do email me at s.matalam@gmail.com. Let's talk.
